A Golden Summer Family Session at Gordy Jolma in Brush Prairie

Late morning sessions at Gordy Jolma might be one of my favorite things. The light was warm and golden, the grass was glowing, and it's surrounded by tall evergreen trees. Add in some train tracks and a really cute family, and I was pretty happy with how this one turned out.

This was also one of my first sessions where I didn't already know the family very well. The Dad works with my husband, so I'd met them before, but we'd never really spent much time together. Luckily, both Mom and Dad were incredibly laid back, and their little guy was pretty happy to just explore and play. Basically, they made my job easy. 😂

Cars, Flowers & Running

We let their little guy lead the sessions, with some posing in between the important activities.... picking flowers, running games, and, most importantly, driving cars.

His favorite cars came along for the session, and at one point he drove his cars all over Dad's hat while getting a shoulder ride. Which was especially fitting since both of his parents drive race cars. Clearly, the kid already knows what he's doing. 😂

I love when families bring little pieces of their everyday lives into photos. Those things might seem small at the time, but they can end up being some of the details that make the photos feel the most personal.

So many good pictures

I usually try not to go completely overboard with the number of images I deliver. Usually. But I really loved this gallery, and apparently, I had a hard time making decisions because this family ended up with 119 images. 😂

There were so many little moments I liked, the running, the flowers, the cars, the shoulder rides, the snuggles with Mom, the smiles, and all the in-between moments. Sometimes a session just comes together, and you end up with way more favorites than you expected.

This was definitely one of those sessions.

If you're looking for a family photographer in Vancouver, WA, or the surrounding Clark County area, I'd love to create a session that's relaxed, fun, and lets your family's personalities room to come through.
